BUKIT TINGGI: Veggie Nature Farm, the agricultural division under Berjaya Hills Resort, is strengthening its role within the group’s integrated hospitality and sustainability ecosystem at Berjaya Hills, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang.
The initiative forms part of the wider operations of Berjaya Corporation Bhd and supports the group’s positioning of Berjaya Hills as a green tourism destination centred on controlled agriculture, environmental sustainability and the integration of resort-based food supply.
The Chateau Spa & Wellness Resort area general manager Paul Cheah said the integration of agriculture into the guest experience is reflected as an operational strategy rather than a standalone initiative.
“The farm-to-table concept is fully embedded within our hospitality framework. Guests are not only served fresh produce from within Berjaya Hills, but they are also given visibility of the cultivation process.
“This strengthens our value proposition in wellness tourism and reinforces transparency in food sourcing,” he told SunBiz.

Located within the Berjaya Hills Resort enclave, Veggie Nature Farm operates greenhouse facilities, organic cultivation areas and fruit farms, including banana and durian plantations.
Phase 1 of Veggie Nature Farm, encompassing five acres, started operation in December 2023, while Phase 2, encompassing 2.3 acres, began operations in October 2025.
The operation supplies fresh produce directly to hospitality outlets, including The Chateau Spa & Wellness Resort, Colmar Tropicale Berjaya Hills and Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur, enabling a farm-to-plate model that reduces dependence on external supply chains and strengthens product traceability.
Freshly harvested produce is also supplied to selected local supermarkets within the Klang Valley.
The farm’s production includes red lettuce, romaine, green lettuce, baby spinach, butterhead, kale, capsicum and tomato.
All crops are cultivated under pesticide-free conditions, with an emphasis on yield consistency, food safety and controlled environmental management.
Veggie Nature Farm’s operation is anchored on three core priorities – environmental preservation, sustainable food production, and integration with hospitality services.
The farm incorporates visitor engagement, where guests are exposed to agricultural practices as part of the resort’s sustainability initiative.
Further, Veggie Nature Farm is positioned as a platform for sustainable agricultural innovation within the group.
A key component of its operations is the adoption of smart hydroponics farming supported by Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructure.
The system, referred to as the Multigrow Autogrow System, is designed to enhance production efficiency through real-time environmental monitoring and automated controls. It uses sensors to track key variables, including temperature, humidity, soil moisture and nutrient concentration.
Data collected from these sensors is processed to optimise irrigation, fertilisation and overall plant growth conditions.
The approach enables precision agriculture, reducing output variability while improving resource efficiency.
From an operational standpoint, the system is intended to reduce wastage of water, fertilisers and agrochemicals while maintaining crop quality and consistency. It also supports more predictable production cycles, which is critical for supplying hospitality operations with stable inventory.
Elaborating, Berjaya Property Bhd assistant general manager for communications and sustainability Mohamed Syairoz Mohd Odman said the adoption of smart farming technologies aligns with the group’s broader sustainability framework.
“What we are implementing at Veggie Nature Farm reflects a structured approach to sustainable development within Berjaya Hills. The integration of IoT-based farming systems allows us to improve efficiency while minimising environmental impact. This is consistent with our long-term objective of embedding sustainability into operational assets.”
The development of Veggie Nature Farm supports the group’s green tourism positioning, where environmental management is integrated into core business functions.
“Berjaya Hills is being developed as a living ecosystem where hospitality, agriculture, and environment operate within the same framework. This ensures that sustainability is not treated as a separate function, but as part of day-to-day operations,” Mohamed Syairoz said.
