KUALA LUMPUR: The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Shah, and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, paid their final respects to the late Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik today.
Their Royal Highnesses visited the Xiao En Centre here to honour the former transport minister and MCA honorary life president, who passed away on Saturday at the age of 82.
Sultan Nazrin graciously penned words of encouragement in a condolence book for Dr Ling’s family before paying his respects.
The royal couple then took time to console the grieving family, which includes Dr Ling’s wife, Toh Puan Ong Ee Nah, and his two sons, Ling Hee Leong and Ling Hee Keat.
Dr Ling, a former MCA president, was among the nation’s longest-serving Cabinet members, having led the Transport Ministry for 17 years from 1986 until his resignation in 2003.
