The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency pledges transparent probes into personnel misconduct, upholding due process and legal principles as emphasised by the prime minister.
PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) will conduct thorough and transparent investigations into any violations of rules or laws by its personnel.
Director-General Maritime Admiral Datuk Mohd Rosli Abdullah said every allegation of misconduct will be investigated appropriately without interference.
“MMEA welcomes the Prime Minister’s assertion that every complaint against civil servants must be investigated according to the law,” he said in a statement.
His remarks respond to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s speech at a Home Ministry gathering earlier today.
Anwar stated that complaints against public officials must be investigated according to the rule of law, not perceptions or political motives.
Mohd Rosli said these measures are essential for maintaining public trust and demonstrating professionalism.
“Without integrity, public trust will erode,” he added.
He affirmed MMEA’s commitment to ensuring all personnel carry out duties with honesty and responsibility.
This year, the agency has investigated 19 cases of misconduct involving officers and personnel.
The cases include corruption, absenteeism, drug abuse, and breaches of the public service code of conduct.
Of these, three officers were dismissed and three had their salary increments deferred.
Nine personnel received warnings, while four were cleared after full investigations and proceedings.
