UMNO Information chief proposes a dedicated digital wing to strengthen the party’s influence, coordinate machinery and analyse voter sentiment.
KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO Information has proposed establishing a dedicated Digital wing within the party.
The wing aims to shape political narratives and strengthen UMNO’s influence in the digital era.
UMNO information chief Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said the proposed structure would operate at various party levels.
“We can also develop a voter database, and analyse sentiment through a microtargeting approach, which can be introduced and taught to party members at the divisional and state levels,” she said.
Azalina stated this at the Politics in Digital Era Symposium 2026 organised by UMNO Information.
She said the digital wing would help better coordinate party machinery and shape public perception on social media.
It would also allow for more organised and effective campaign implementation.
Azalina added that continuous training is essential for the wing’s success.
This training would be conducted by the central UMNO Information Office in collaboration with state offices.
UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was also present at the symposium.
